Raster images, such as gif, jpg, bmp, and other picture formats, are used for engraving. There is no special setup requirements for image files to be engraved. There are some guidelines to follow, however, to ensure the highest quality engraving:
- Image size: the Laser Edge Cutters engraving service is available in 300, 600, and 1200 DPI resolutions. We recommend using an image with at least the same resolution at the size that the image will be engraved. For example, if would like an image engraved at 600 DPI and the engraved image will be 2" x 3", the image file should have a resolution of at least 600 x 900.
- Text: If text is included in the image, it is best to use a contrasting color so that the engraving of the text stands out from the background image
- The final engraved product will have a tone similar to that of a black and white image. We recommend that you consider viewing color images in black and white to get an idea of what the final product will look like.
When you submit your files for a free quote, please let us know what material you are interested in engraving the image on, what the dimensions of the engraved image will be and where on the material the image is to be engraved.
