CAD files that we work with are generally DXF or DWG format. The file must be setup in 2D with each part to be cut clearly labeled. Below you fill find a link for a DXF file and a DWG file that illustrates the basic setup.

Setup Guidelines for DXF and DWG files
- Layers: place all engraved items on a single layer and create a layer for each material
- Grain orientation: materials that have a grain, such as wood, are assumed to be oriented with the grain horizontal. If parts need to be cut with grain oriented in another direction, please indicate that on the drawing
- Notes: the use of notes is highly encouraged if you feel that any clarification of your design intent is needed. We recommend that the notes are placed on a layer titled "notes" - we will not cut or engrave a notes layer
- Line weight for engraving: line weight for items to be cut should be set to "0.001"
- Line weight for engraving: Laser Edge Cutters recommend at least 0.5 pt for engraving for visibility
- Fill: items with a fill will be engraved
