Laser Cutting Service

Can you cut metal?

  • Unfortunately, no.  Our CO2 laser can cut through most organic materials, plastics, paper, etc., but it does not have sufficient power for cutting metal.

Does Laser Edge provide the materials for my order?

  • For the most part the answer is yes, we do. We carry balsa, basswood, plywood, acrylic, and Depron. If we do not carry it, we can always special order the material.

Why don't you display prices for sample jobs?

  • Every job is different. Two designs that appear identical on the outside may have drastically differing materials and parts counts. We prefer to provide a free, no-obligation quote for your particular job, so that you can make an informed decision.

How should I setup my drawings for cutting?

  • The drawing should be created in layers, with each layer identified with a material name and thickness (i.e. 1/8” balsa). Text that is intended to be engraved or cut should be noted, otherwise it will be considered a note.  Click here for a sample PDF that illustrates the basics.

What file formats can you work with?

  • We can work with .dwg, .dxf (AutoCAD), .ai (Adobe Illustrator), or .cdr (Corel Draw) files. Images can also be used along with our drafting services.

Do I have to know how to use CAD to take advantage of this service?

  • Absolutely not. We welcome custom jobs that start from printed plans, and accurately dimensioned drawings. Our drafting service is competitive and you keep the files that are generated.

How are my items packaged?

  • That depends. We take great care in packaging your items for safe shipment. Each job will be packaged in a uniquely safe way for the parts that you have ordered.

Shipping

What will I be charged for shipping of my custom laser cut order?

  • When we quote your job, we will also quote the shipping rate.

Do you ship internationally?

  • Yes we do. With very few exceptions we can ship to most countries around the world. Tariffs and any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the buyer upon reaching the destination country.

Payment

What is your preferred method of payment?

  • We accept PayPal payments, and every job that we send will include instructions to send payment by PayPal and we generally include a customized paylink link as well for your convenience.

When will I be charged for my order?

  • For custom laser cutting jobs we generally offer several options to meet your goals, and you will be charged after you agree to an option and just before cutting begins.
